Participants
There are 5 schools from different countries in Europe participating in TIE - "Together in Europe”. Their social and cultural backgrounds vary and thus the project gives a diverse view of European people's lives.

Migration
Ahaus is situated in a rural area close to the Dutch border. The percentage of students in higher secondary education is considerably lower than in urbanized regions and in the national average. Alexander-Hegius-Gymnasium plays an important role in the efforts to improve this structure of a disadvantaged area.

Leisure Activities
The European dimension, the intercultural dialogue and the international cooperation can be considered as three of the main aims of ITC “Enrico Tosi” of Busto Arsizio. Thanks to the efforts made, a wide international network has been created and the school has been given important international awards. European cooperation has helped the school to renew its teaching methods and to improve its quality standards. 70% of the students are girls and one of the most important aims is promoting equal opportunities in every sector. There are also 5% of immigrant students who need personalized teaching enabling them to learn Italian and better integrate.

Schoolsystems
Kybartai is a small town on Lithuania’s borderline with the Kaliningrad district (Russian Federation), situated in a rural area. A large number of pupils of K. Donelaitis-Gymnasium come from villages in the vicinity, 3 – 13 km from Kybartai: 22% of pupils have to go to school by bus. There are numerous pupils with special educational needs, too, such as children with learning difficulties or social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Kybartai belongs to an agricultural region with a high rate of unemployment. There is a steady decline in the population because of emigration, mainly to Ireland and Spain.

Haaksbergen is a small town (24.000 inhabitants) in a relatively remote area of the Netherlands. Lying in between the towns of Enschede and Hengelo, it is the regional centre of a rural community in a mainly agricultural region. Het Assink Lyceum is the only secondary school within the municipality and in the area, and thus plays an important role in the education of the region. Haaksbergen counts 5% non-EU immigrants, of which the majority are from Turkish or Asian origins.

I SLO Gorzów is a school in which students are given one more chance due to the fact that they usually come to this school because they have had problems in the previous one. Those students need the increase of their motivation and must be shown their study and effort will lead to something, at his point to learning more about Europe and learning more language. The work in the TIE project will definitely increase their motivation.
